Fire Tutorial for Paint Shop Pro (PSP) 7
There are tons of graphics resources for fire available online nowadays, but they aren't always appropriate for every project. And besides, it's more fun to do it yourself.
- Make a new 80x80 image, 16 million colors with a black background. Set the foreground and background colors to R=255, G=162, B=1).
- Create a new Raster layer and draw a rectangle on the new layer:
- Antialias = Checked
- Line width = 1.

- Apply a wrinkled plastic texture effect (Effects -> Texture Effects -> Texture...):
- Texture = #12
- Size = 25%
- Smoothness = 50
- Depth = 50
- Ambience = -50
- Shininess = 75
- Color = 255, 235, 203
- Angle = 0
- Intensity = 50
- Elevation = 30.

- Apply a curlique effect (Effects -> Geometric Effects - > CurlyQs...):
- Number of columns = 5
- Number of rows = 10
- Size = 100%
- Strength = 10
- Clockwise.

- Apply a curlique effect (Effects -> Geometric Effects - > CurlyQs...):
- Number of columns = 9
- Number of rows = 15
- Size = 100%
- Strength = 10
- Counterclockwise.

- Apply a crumpled paper texture effect (Effects -> Texture Effects -> Texture...):
- Texture = #11
- Size = 25%
- Smoothness = 25
- Depth = 25
- Ambience = -50
- Shininess = 50
- Color = 255, 235, 203
- Angle = 0
- Intensity = 50
- Elevation = 30.

- Rotate the all layers of the image 90° to the right.

- You might want to add vertical perspective (Effects -> Geometric Effects -> Perspective - Vertical...) to give it a more triangular shape. This is with -60 perspective.

Play with the settings and have fun.
